TOUR DETAILS:

The Aegean coast is substantially less developed than the Mediterranean and is perhaps the best place to take a road biking holiday in Turkey. The absence of a major coastal highway, combined with a maritime geography of wooded peninsulas, inlets and islands and a blissful climate makes this a perfectly idyllic and intriguing area. This tour takes to a network of less travelled roads that link mountainous olive groves with beautiful seaside areas and exquisite coastal peninsulas. Daily distance of 40-70km make this route accessible to most cyclists, and we take full advantage of the support car to transfer up big hills and along less enjoyable sections. This tour includes all the highlights of our original Aegean Road Biking trip, with much less stress and strain- and more time to enjoy the places along the way. It is fully supported with a trained driver and support car following behind you (out of sight), and you can take advantage of this service as much or as little as you require. WHY?

The southern Aegean region is in our opinion the best place for a road biking or cycle touring holiday in Turkey. The weather is generally fine, beaches are superb, roads are good, and the quality of restaurants and accommodation excellent.

WHEN?

Possible at any time of the year but best between April and June and September and November.

HOW?

Fly into Izmir and back from Dalaman- international airports where a host of affordable flight options are available. Easy Jet now has cheap flights from London Gatwick to Izmir, and a range of UK regional airports to Dalaman. It’s also possible to fly in and out of Dalaman- we can arrange an extra one-way transfer.

WHAT?

This is a backroads tour and the roads can be a little rough in places. We advise using 25-28mm tyres or a MTB / hybrid bike. Click here to view the full itinerary!
