Cappadocia is a legendary land of towering “fairy chimneys”, cave dwellings and dormant volcanoes, laced together with lush, green valleys. Home to a succession of cultures since the dawning of civilisation, it also has a fascinating historical legacy with much to explore. This moderately easy tour is a journey of adventure, taking to a network of little used dirt roads and not too technical singletrack MTB trails as it winds it’s way across the region. Enjoying many of Cappadocia’s most captivating highlights it’s also a chance to escape the tourist crowds and discover the true character and charm of this magical place and it’s people.

The tour takes a meandering route right across Cappadocia’s volcanic landscape offering challenging and rewarding trails amidst Turkey’s most awesome scenery. It combines the best of remote, wilderness off road adventure biking with plenty of sights, sounds and new experiences along the way. The tour covers a wide enough distance to satisfy fit, keen cyclists, but with a support vehicle always on hand to help out anyone whose legs give up on them!

This is a journey of discovery from start to finish, covering much of the Cappadocia region including the Ihlara Canyon, Soganli Valley, and “Fairy Chimney” lunar landscape that stretches from Mustafapasa to Goreme.

We have been based in Goreme, the jewel in Cappadocia’s crown, for the last 10 years, and know the region’s trails like the backs of our hands. There can be few better places to ride a mountain bike on this earth. So many trails and so much variety this is a single track paradise.

Cappadocia enjoys a continental climate of long, dry summers and cold winters, often with heavy snow. The best time to ride is May – June and September – October though the itineraries we offer are broadly possible right through from April to November.

Fly to Nevsehir and Kayseri from Istanbul, with connecting flights worldwide. Turkish Airlines and Pegasus Airlines both have really good deals if you book in advance.

About the Area:

The remains of the millions years ago volcanic eruptions, shaped by the wind and rain for thousands of years, have formed one of natures most spectacular masterpieces: Strange rock formations, called: “fairy chimneys”.
Settled throughout time by Hittite, Persian, Romans, Byzantine and Ottoman civilisations, many of these caves are still decorated with icons and wall paintings from the early Christian times. Cappadocia is a land rich with history and filled with natural wonders!

    • Hi Ian, Thanks for getting in touch. The group departures of this tour haven’t reached minimum numbers over the last 3 years- although it has proven very popular in the self-guided version. However, the similar Cappadocia Singletrack tour is now more accessible than ever, and I am encouraging any riders with even a little MTB experience to book that tour instead. However, if you feel that one isn’t for you, we can open a group tour on this programme- which dates would you prefer? Bike hire isn’t included but is available- we will be using Trek Superfly 5 bikes in 2015. Looking forward to hearing from you! Kind regards, Jon

  1. My family of 4 including a 16 and 13 year old are interested in a self-guided mountain biking tour. We have done a few tours before so I would describe us as intermediate riders. We have availability during the time frame of June 24-July 2. Do you have any suggestions? Will this time of year be too hot?
    Thank you.

    • Hi Lisa, At this time of year it is rather hot down on the coast… but in Cappadocia the weather is often absolutely perfect for a self-guided MTB tour. I will send you an email with some details and options. Many thanks for getting in touch with us!

  2. Hi, I am interested in doing a self-guided MTB singletrack ride with my sister (two of us) on June 1st or 2nd. I wanted to know if you have rentals available or perhaps shorter guided tours or day trips. I also wanted to know the level of difficulty there is so that there is an option for everyone. THanks!

    • Hi Neil, Yes, singletrack is possible guided or self-guided and we do have availability on June 1st or 2nd. I’ll send you an email with some options and details. Best wishes, Jon

  3. Looking for a mountain bike tour between the dates 18-27th April. Have seen the option for a road bike one which might be a possibility but like the idea of Cappadocia. We both have good mountain bikes, clothing, tools, etc and have completed road/track tours in europe and asia.

    • Hi Rob, Yes, that’s certainly possible! I’ll reply in an email to you about the various options open to us! Kind regards, Jon

  4. Hi,
We were interested in doing the self guided cappadocia adventure tour in May, starting on 6 May. There are two of us, and we would need to hire bikes from you as well. Can you let me know if this would be possible, and if so give an idea of cost?

    Thanks in advance,
