Dear Jon and Atil. A quick note to say thank you for organising the most fantastic trip. We have loved every minute. The landscapes, history, people and food have been outstanding. We loved hiking and biking in places where we saw no one but the odd farmer. The itinerary you planned was perfect. Best of all though, and what’s really made it, has been the way Emrulla has looked after us, entertained the kids, tailored every day to suit us and sought out things he knew we’d love. He is kind, thoughtful, funny, smart and full of beans! We’d happily go on holiday with him anytime. And of course, Mustapha has been great too – always there to rescue us when we didn’t feel we could take another step. I’ll be in touch from the UK re the FT article. If you ever want a reference from us just let us know. A big thank you,

Polly Rusell & family, Cappadocia, August 2019

Jon, I want to thank you for an excellent experience. The trip was very well arranged. The directions were accurate, each route was very scenic and appropriately challenging, the hotels were nice and Mustafa was wonderful. Would be happy to recommend this to my friends

Regards, Satish Goel (Aegean Road Biking, May 2019)

Dear Jon, Back today from our extended holiday……….so will send you just a short note while still fresh in my mind. Our turkey biking tour was absolutely wonderful thanks, and a perfect mix of adventurous riding and sightseeing – Hami was the star of the tour, and rates 10/10. He has the perfect personality for guiding: relaxed fun informative helpful supportive, an exceptionally talented rider with easy knowledge about all the places and sights and culture. It will be a very sad day if he has to leave tourism due to the low tourist interest in Turkey at the moment. We are already talking about coming back to Turkey in a year or 2 for a road trip along the Agean, but would need to book Hami again for this !!! – Technicality of riding trails rates 8/10 as the trails were often above our capability levels, even though we have been mountain biking for nearly 20 years and are regarded as pretty good riders here in Cape Town. This may be because we don’t have slick rock or very sandy riding here, and ride mainly groomed trails – our trails are often steep and technical with drop offs and bermed corners– but we are used to riding trails prepared and groomed for mountain biking. We found the Turkey trails very wild, overgrown with thorns and brambles, unprepared and generally quite scary. So lots of walking and pushing and stop/starts instead of the long flowing single track sections we are used to. – Sightseeing and culture rates 10/10. We all loved the fairy chimneys, churches, monasteries, castles etc that Hami took us to, especially as he avoided the touristy spots, and we had most sites just to ourselves. Was wonderful and Hami had the perfect mix of history and fun. – Accommodation and food rates 10/10. We all loved the Sognali “chic” hotel accommodation the most, but all the other places were super too. All different, and Hami was great at recommending the local food dishes, and Mustapha helped with explaining how to cook them So all in all a great success. But we would have to be careful about recommending this particular trip to our friends, as their riding levels are lower than ours. Maybe time to design a mountain biking trip with easier trails – I liked the Cross country World Cup route (???) through the fairy chimneys into Goreme the best (we did this one twice). That sort of trail suits beginners, intermediates and advanced riders alike, as all can cope, with speed depending on individual levels. More cross country trails, and less hectic free-riding. Hope the tourism picks up Jon, as this was a fantastic trip Regards, Penny (Cappadocia Singletrack, September 2017) Dear Spiceroads, Cappadocia is one of the most amazing places on the planet. The scenery on this bike tour is beautiful. We had a great tour guide – very knowledgeable and took us to places we would have never been able to see on our own. This tour is not to be missed!

Jonathan

Dear Jon, Your guide, Hami, was excellent. He was knowledgeable with history and trails, safe, fun, and flexible with our route. I will write a review on trip advisor. This site is extremely important for travelers. Sorry about low tourism. Americans are afraid of bombings now. Cappadocia is not a place that will be targeted, but people have other choices, so it is a concern. The airfare to Istanbul is $500usd lower than any other destination in Europe, but still people are super cautious.

Thanks again, Rebecca and Randy Kleis (Cappadocia, April 2016)

Hi Jon, We are waiting at the airport to depart and I just wanted to thank you for the most fantastic cycling holiday that we have had: the locations; the routes; the places to stay and the superb support of our guide, Sinan. Nothing was too much and throughout he was informative and supportive. I would highly recommend him for always “going the extra mile” and enabling us to experience the “real” Turkey. He made us feel confident about tackling some of the steep climbs, “the daddies” and was always there to encourage and guide. Many thanks to you too for always answering my questions.

Hi Jon, This email written on the plane won’t send until we’re in the UK, but I wanted to say thank you for your careful route planning for our cycle tour. The route was ideal given the constraints of our available time: two moderate days to start, a big stretch before our rest day, excellent location for the rest day (Kekik is an outstanding hotel and the Bosburun peninsula simply too inviting, Christine took me on a 46km 900m ride!), and a pleasant last day (despite having to contend with the metropolis of Marmaris). Over the next couple of days I’ll try to capture a few points of feedback on gear etc, but wanted to convey our thanks for excellent route planning and accommodation. We hosed down the bikes to remove the grime of 300km and three days of epic thunderstorms and any salt from the sea air. Removed Christine saddle, left water bottles and all the repair gear (unused) in bag locked to the bikes in Joya’s garden utility room. Best regards,

George & Christine (Aegean Road Biking Self-Supported, Sept 2015)

Hi Jon. Sinan (our driver) was there at the airport with a big smile and a sign with my name on it. Thus began a wonderful, magical trip. The biking was challenging at times with high temps and hills, but we truly loved it. And we have to owe it to Sinan and his kindness and helpfulness. We left today feeling like we were saying goodbye to family. We will encourage our friends to take this trip. It was amazing! Warm regards,

Carolyn (Aegean Luxury Self-Guided July 2015)

Hi Jon. We have finished your gps tours with great success. Congratulations to the compilation of these superb day trips! Great variety of sceneries as well as historical highlights spiced with beautiful single trails. I surely will recommend your tours to my biking friends in Switzerland. Kind regards,

Hans Jakob Sommerauer (Cappadocia Adventure MTB Self-Guided, May 2015)

Dear Jon! I am just back in the house I and feel kind of obligied to again thank you for the mind blowing, terrific trip (now and then also horrifieing) you have scouted, organized and performed. From my point of view it was as close to perfection you can come, if the challenge is to bring true experience and adventure into a structure of packaged (still small scaled) tourism. So true love mate and I hope we can help to contribute to build up this branch of going in to the Middle earths single track country. Most certinately we all will do de best we can to make it happen. Respect and love,

Nick (Pathfinder MTB Agency, Sweeden, May 2015)
